Default opti spark options today for 92

need help

my 1992 LT1 is reading codes 16 and 36 low and high res I believe

I replaced it 3 years ago hardly drive it.
I believe the mechanic forgot to put the oring on the back side and it leaks oil

Is it possible that the oil is going in the opti spark
I can run the engine for about 20 minutes with no problems then it shuts down and gives the codes
then it will start again the next day and do the same thing

what are the new options out there for buying the opti spark for a good price

thanks mike

Did your mechanic neglect to replace the Opti seal? That's where they typically leak oil after an Opti is replaced without a new seal, or it got pinched while it was installed. The timing cover seal is another likely suspect.

Ironically, one of the worst things you can do to these cars is NOT drive them. All the seals contract from lack of use, resulting in oil, coolant, and other fluid leaks.

New Optis run anywhere from $115 (or lower, caveat emptor! ) to upwards of $600, depending on where you look. I would opt for AC/Delco-Delphi, personally over MSD or Accel models due to recent quality control issues.

An Opti (and possibly WP swap) are not things you want to do over in two weeks, or even two years for that matter.
