Default Headlight Making noise

I read the other posting related to having problems with one headlight not going down but wanted to get a second option.

The headlight that would not go down was making a sound every couple of minutes. I put a little pressure on the headlight and it finally went down and sound goes away.

What is that sound, am I going to burn up the motor?

Am I doing any damage by trying to push the headlight down.

From the other postings related to headlights it sounds like I need to replace the gear. How hard for the mechanically challenged

I fixed mine two days ago. It took me two hours and that is because I had to run to Home Depot to replace a screw that I broke and had to drill out. Just follow the instructions on the Tech Tips of this forum and you will be ok. It is not as hard as it sounds. Total cost for both lights is going to be around $10.
Good Luck

Did you replace with plastic or metal gears?

I have a 90 model, I used the 'plastic' bushings. I can look for a part# if you want. But both Ecklers and MA sells them.

Thanks, I found it on Ecklers but do not know if it is worth it to spend a little or a lot.

Probably the gears or the bushings.
