Iv'e been using Mobile 1 for the last 10 yrs. It does a fine job of removing particulates down to a few microns....about $10.+ a unit.

I've heard the AC Delco Gold is the best, but I don't think they are making them any more. I use the Mobil 1 filter.

Re: Oil Filter for LT1 (Dave-T)
After reading a fairly comprehensive test report on the various oil filters the AC Delco Ultraguard Gold proved to be the best for filtration abilities as well as having one of the best flowing capabilities.
The one for the LT1 engine is the UPF52. The regular AC Delco is the PF52 and it's not bad ... just doesn't have the extra characteristics of the Ultraguard. So ever since I've had my '94 I've used nothing but the UPF52 ... until my last change 3 weeks ago. My local supplier, Pep Boys, quit carrying them. Rumor has it that too many "customers" were switching box contents and taking the Ultraguards out in regular boxes. So the '94 has a regular $2.00 PF52 in it this time around (and our local WalMart just quit carrying Delco, but have tons of Fram filters, which tested low in the test ... I won't use them)
Now, the good news. I just ordered from gmpartsdirect.com a 6-pack of Ultraguard Golds. My cost, shipping included is $49.00. The filters are $6.50 or so each but the shipping/handling is a little bit of a rip. They are listed as GM Ultraguard Gold and the GM part number is 25322836. I looked at my last filter and it has ACDelco UPF52 printed on it as well as the GM part number, so they gotta be the same.
I think LAPD carries the Ultraguards for the C5's but not sure about the C4's.
Hope all this dribble helps someone.
