89 A/C compressor (oe) clutch - diode in the harness- where?
Can someone explain to me the purpose of the diode in the harness going into the a/c compressor? I have searched and can't find it in my harness. I think my clutch has gone out but want to check this diode that I read about but haven't had to do this before. Thanks!

Thanks in advance!

In the Compressor Coil Connector under a rectanglar piece of black plastic.
The diode is a one way device so that juice can only flow to ground. Without it, the collapsing magnetic field - when the clutch disengages - can allow juice to flow back and short out the Coil. Test it with a DVM as positioned in the clip. Closed circuit toward ground; open the other way.
