Digital gauge vs Analog gauge
I`ve noticed lately that my digital gauge on my 95 LT1 reads considerably lower then my analog gauge.Analog will show about 200 but digital will show from 140 to 150.Anyone know if there is a way to ohm the digital sensor to see if it is in working order or should I just replace it and see what happen? Thanks in advance!!

The analog gauge is not truly linear across the temp range so as the coolant temp rises, the needle moves less of a distance. The displayed temps from each gauge comes from two different sensors. 140-150 seems pretty low for operating temps. The sensors aren't terribly expensive so maybe changing the digital sensor might be worth it.
A scan tool will also show coolant temp, so it may be a good idea to have it checked that way too.

Depending on where you live and how well your cooling system works would have a bearing on your temps as well. My '85 runs right at 160* most of the time with a 160* thermo. I think I have a new rad from the PO so unless I get stopped in traffic for a long time my fan almost never comes on. This is the coolest running car I have ever owned.

I ohmed out the sensor and it seems close at low temp but goes crazy as it warms up.I also noticed the oil temp is close to analog coolant temp but digital isn`t.185 on oil temp and 137 on coolant temp.I think I`ll just change the sensor and see what happens.not a big investment for something that bugs me that much.I appreciate the responsess!
