Default 1993 Rough Idle cold start clears up quickly??

Guys
last few day my 93 starts right up on cold start up but tries to die and idle
drops off and it bucks and kicks for about two minutes and I get it moving and after about 1/2 mile its just fine no problems - anyone have any quick fixes or what to look for?
Thanks

My 94 was doing this. Until it will now not start at all, it is getting fuel as I can smell it but probably not getting any spark. It has poured down here all day today so I have not had a chance to check it out.

I would suspect an O2 sensor. There are heaters in the sensors that go bad and make the vehicle run rich. Before you toss $$ at it, scan the system upon a cold start and see what is found.

If you smell a bunch of fuel at startup then I'd say leaking injectors - they dump fuel into the engine while it's off, then when you start those cylinders are flooded so it runs rough and once they're clear then everything runs fine.

That or a weak coil/opti.

I don't think it's the O2 sensors as they're not in the loop until the car warms up. His issues are at startup while the car is cold.

Could be a leaky fuel pressure regulator but your code is indictating a opti problem or wiring issue. Also check fuel pressure & coolant temp sensor.Keep us posted

Hi everyone,

My 94 Base coupe with 56K just started running a little rough when cold and what sounds like an unhappy lifter. The noise seems to be coming from the drivers side of the motor. It clears up and runs strong after driving for 3 or 4 blocks. What do you mean by scanning the system? Sorry, it is my first 'Vette.

Thanks

You should probably start a new thread so people will see your question. Here is a good article on scanning the codes.

How so? The O2 sensor isn't active till it heats up and he is dealing with a cold start issue.

Mine did this a couple weeks ago - was the temp sensor on the water pump - I pulled the plug-in and re-attach and it clear up - I guess it had some corrosion in it.

Get a scanner and see if the start up temp is the same as an infra red scan of the CTS.

I had to create an account to say thank you. I pulled the water pump temp sensor, cleaned it and re-attached and IT WORKED!
