Default HELP! I'm a vette without WOT!!!!

OK this is driving me crazy!!!!!!!! I just did a complete tune up. Spark plugs AC delco rapid fire 5's, Accel 8.8 wires with a Accel Super coil. Changed the oil while i was at it and the car stumbles at idle at WOT. This started happening before the tune up so i figured it needed one. If i'm doing 25-30 it takes off fine. THought maybe i gapped the plugs wrong pulled them regapped them put them back in. Same deal it's driving me crazy!!!! It feels like it wants to run but it's tied to a stake, once it gets up to 35 it runs again. What is going on? what am i missing?

My car is doing the same thing and I am taking it in for a complete tune up: Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, fuel filter, air filter and pcv. (By the way, the local Chevy dealer quoted me a price of $800.00 for the tune up)
:mad No way.

My Corvette will intermittently miss; when I accelerate hard, it seems to bog.

On my '91, L98 I am thinking the problem could stem from the need for a tune up, fuel filter or injectors. So I am going to do a complete tune up plus fuel filter and hope for the best. On a ’92 – ’94 I would include Opti-Spark as a possibility.

Any other suggestions guys?

Fuel filter, air filter, timing, PCV valve, fuel pressure (fuel pump issues). There's a lot to check!! :yesnod: Good luck, I went through this before also...

Could be water in the fuel. Add a dry gas with isopropyl alcohol to the tank. Fuel filter could be clogged. Cracked vacuum line? You said you gapped the Rapidfires but I thought they came pre-gapped.

That's what they say but when i got them they were at .45, .32 etc.. The cowl and hayes manual said the gaps should be .35 for aluminum heads. Nope i thought of that the pressure runs 38 at idle jumps up when i nail it. Looked pretty funny with a duct taped the gauge to the window.

Clean the TB bore & plates and the IAC pintel and it's bore. Then set min idle to 450RPM and adjust the TPS to read about .65Vdc at min idle and over 4.5Vdc at WOT (method on my site).

Unplug the TPS and connect a DMM between the signal wire and common. Then slowly open the throttle from idle position to full open. The reading should change smoothly with no jumps nor flat spots.

Check/adjust your base timing.

Mr. Sharky, you can get a HyperTech coil/cap/rotor, TPIS wires and A/C Delco plugs for about $200.

Once you have the dist cap removed it's a fairly simple job to route the wires per original. If you remove the right inner fender access panel, the A/C brace and two AIR hoses the spark plugs are easy to access.

I'd say a Sat. afternoon in there would save you close to $500-$600 (let the dealer do the oil & fuel filters and oil change). You could even pick up tools at Sears and still save a solid $400 in an afternoon.
