Timing Chain & Water Pump
Well at 100k miles I guess I have to start doing more than thinking about changing the chain and water pump. Any body have any suggestions about the way to go? I think the original has the nylon cam gear, I have always used a Cloyes double roller replacement with the hardened gears is that what most of you have done? Anybody replaced with stock chain and gears? And if so why? Are there any problems with double roller on an '86 Aluminum head Corvette all stock ( non roller rockers). Any noise, wear ,interference problems etc?
Anybody have any advice about the type of water pump, GM or replacement and if so what brand? Is there a special model used on the '86, aluminun, cast iron, short long or they all the same?
At the moment I have had no problems with cooling or timing shift, just mileage creeping up.
Barrier :)

Get a Double Roller timing chain from Summit, and contact Stewart Components, and get one of their High Flow Water Pumps for around $100-$150. Then, you're set to go :D
