Valve Cover Paint bubbling
Has this ever happened to anyone? The paint bubbles and then breaks away, :cry I can e-mail pics to show what I mean. Can I prevent this process from going any farther?

Re: Valve Cover Paint bubbling (Nyvette)
Pat, I assume you are using a high heat paint and primer. Off the top of my head, I can think of 3 things...first have the sand blasted to ensure they are free of any old paint, etc. then respray with HH primer and paint. The second (and my choice) would be to have them powder coated and thirdly, look at a set of chrome covers from GM (the ones with the red bowtie in the middle)...
Good luck :seeya

Sorry, I didn't address your original question...no there is nothing to prevent this from going further...

I agree, sounds like time for a repaint job.
When I did my 1.6RRs last fall I repainted my valve covers with the paint from MAD; so far so good.
I degreased them in/out with carb cleaner, wet sanded with 220grit wet, degreased with laquer thinner and shot several medium coats wet sanding with 600grit between coats.
Also I run a 160 deg stat and fan sw so coolant temp never goes above 180deg even with air temps in high 90s.

Wash them down real good with a scotchbrite pad and some dishwashing soap and hot water then paint. You could just polish them and coat them with some hight temp clear coat. Thats how I did mine and they are holding up very nicely.
