mis-shapen rear bumper? can i re shape it?
Im preping my 89 for paint and just realized this bulge next to the "corvette" decal... how can I re-shape this? Can I heat gun the crap out of it?

My '86 was the same way. Had high and low spots. Perhaps not as bad as yours. I just used tiger hair as a structural filler and used Bondo premium filler over it. It has held up so far, but I only painted it about 2 months ago. I used 80 grit to get a good scuff for adhesion, then kitty hair, rescuff then filler, glaze, 2K primer, sealer, base, clear.
Its a 20 something year old bumper, so no heat gun will help much. otherwise, spend the bucks and get a fiberglass one.
I figured it this way. 30 bucks worth of 'glass work is cheap, and will take quite a hit to make fall out if done correctly. Mine looks great so far......time will tell.
