Pressure Plate Bolt Torque with New Bolts
So here is the question. I have a new spec SMF and a new pressure plate/clutch. I am going to use the SPEC pressure plate bolts because the stock ones have too short of a thread for the SMF, they wind up bottoming out because the DMF has a feature in the holes that allows the whole diameter of the bolt to slide down further than the SMF which does not have this feature.
Anyhow, the question is the FSM says 30 ft-lbs. However, the new bolts are clearly grade 8 bolts and according to that they should be torqued to 45 ft-lbs dry. Recommendations? Thanks.

I would use the factory torque spec unless the flywheel manufacturer has a different recommendation. Torque specs often vary from those suggested for the grade of bolts used due to strength of the material they thread into.
