Default Grind noise under load.

Rear end noise under hard acceleration sounds like a bad CV joint (best way to describe). Noise not present under light acceleration. sounds/feels like something grinding or binding.

87k miles on car. I have been through all sections of the service manual.

I have also read through these threads:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...ring-axle.html
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...n-changed.html

I have the rear up on stands at the moment.
U-joints - Moving the wheels I do not see any play in any of the 6 u-joints. There is overall slop in the driveline though.
Wheel bearings - tugging on either wheel I feel a very minor bit of play in the wheel bearings, equal amount of movement on both sides.

So......where do I go from here?

LR & RR HALFSHAFT U- Joints are failing.
Internal grease packing installed in 1987 is all dried up 24 years later.

Replace all 4 rear half shaft U- joints.

Noises will be gone.

And the "special" washers too.
