Default 1994 LT1 Cooling Fan Temperatures

I have a 1994 LT1 Vette and the #1 fan comes on at 184F and the fan cools the engine to 182F but the fan will never go off until you kill the engine and let it cool again. with a 195 thermostat, it never sends coolant to the radiator because it never gets hotter than 184F I purchased a CATS Tuner so as to set the fans however it only shows Oil Temperature settings and AC Pressure settings but not Coolant Temps. Also all the temps in the program are shown as Celsius.

Other posts show Fan Temp settings for earlier C4's but not for the 1994-1996. What should my temps be set at and is it according to Oil Temp or Coolant Temp??

The stock LT1 thermostat is 180*, and the Tunercat table to change the fan temps is "Fan enable coolant temp vs speed". For whatever reason the table list the temp settings as MPH. Disregard that and just use temps in Celcius.

If you want the car to run cooler than the stock ~230* temps and are still running the stock thermostat I would reccomend setting the temps at fan 1 low/high 89*/92* C, and fan 2 at 92*/97* C. In F 192*/198* 198*/207*.

The stock settings are, in C 104/108 108/113.

THANKS!!! I would have never figured that out. Instructions with the program wouldn't even help when the table is mis-labled. Fan 1 was set at 83/83 and Fan 2 was set at 89/89. This means when it kicked on at 181F it was according to the setting. I changed the radiator, coolant sensor, and temp switch. The radiator was clogged so the previous owner probably set the fans to come on sooner to offset the higher temps. I will reload the settings tomorrow and see how the fans act.

Should there be any adjustment as to when they kick off??

The low side of those numbers is when they kick off, high side when they activate.

THANKS AGAIN!! I will check the thermostat also, I know I put a new one in with the new Water Pump and the manual calls for a 195 however I don't remember checking it when I took it out of the box.

Default 1994 Fan Issue

I have a 1994 Corvette and my secondary fan comes on when my analog gauge is at the overheating mark. I only have an issue if I’m Parked or stopped in traffic. I would like to reprogram the computer to turn my fans on sooner. I’m not a fan of cutting wires on a low mileage older car for a manual switch. How do I reprogram the computer on a car this age? Specialty shop ? Dealership? Is there a tool I can buy? Anybody done it to their car? I’ve had issues in parades and traffic, I always panic when it gets that hot. As soon as the secondary fan kicks on it cools right off. I appreciate any advice.

First don't pay attention to the analog temp gauge after all ..... the car doesn't use that reading for ANYTHING. Pay attention to the digital temp as that feeds the ECM.

Now, read this sticky: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...peratures.html
