Default After Market Alarm - Door Lock Help, please!

Hi folks,

Hopefully Agent86, or Hooked on Vettes will chime in as the helped me the last time.

My aftermarket "push-to-start" alarm has bit the dust, and I am installing a new one. More detailed write up to follow.

But I am having trouble with the door locks, as usual. I was looking at this post: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...locks-are.html so I know I have the GM 45 wire reverse rest at ground system in my 90.

Light Blue wire is for Door Unlock
Black wire is for Door Lock

In the schematic is a Light Blue wire going from the Left hand door lock switch (Driver side)to the Right hand door lock switch (Passenger side). You cut the Light Blue wire.
I removed the old alarm and put the door lock wiring back the way it was from the factory. The locks work since I tied these wires back together for lock and unlock on both switches. But I need help with the alarm interface. So I know I have the correct light blue and black wires.

Here is what the installation manual says for the new system:

*Green Wire (Door Lock [-] 25omA Output)
Connect the wire to the switch line for Door Lock of the vehicle.
Connect this green wire to the switch wire in which (-) polarity is output during Door Lock.
*Yellow Wire (Door Unlock [-] 250mA Output)
Connect the wire to the switch wire for Door Lock System.
Connect this yellow wire to the switch wire in which (-) polarity is output during Door Unlock.
I believe this means that it grounds the green wire lead when you hit lock and the yellow wire goes to ground for unlock.

Ok, so then I find this diagram, but it is for 12 positive 5 wire not 12V negative 5 wire:

And using the above, it appears I have to open the driver side door and perform some surgury on the wires in the driver's door and run some wires back to a couple of relays?

Is there a better way? Will the above work? Does anyone know how to hook up a ground triggered (-12V) alarm to the 90 vette door locks?

If your new alarm module uses external relays you need two new
relays for the door locks.

One for the Lock and one relay for the Unlock.

You use the same wires that you cut for the alarm system you removed.

Light Blue wire is for Lock
Black wire is for Unlock

Cut the Light Blue wire. The end that goes back to the
Driver side power door lock switch connect to Pin 30 of
the new Lock relay. The other end of the cut Light Blue
wire that goes to the Passenger side power door lock switch
connect to Pin 87A of the new Lock relay.

Cut the Black wire. The end that goes back to the Driver side
power door Unlock switch connect to Pin 30 of the new Unlock
relay. The other end of the cut Black wire that goes to the
Passenger side power door Unlock switch connect to Pin 87A of
the new Unlock relay.

Other pins for both the Lock relay and the Unlock relay.
Pins 85 and Pins 87. Connect to a fused 12 volts hot at all times.

On the Lock relay connect the Green wire from the alarm to pin 86.

On the Unlock relay connect the Yellow wire from the alarm to pin 86

Hooked on Vettes - Thank you very much. You saved me for a second time! You are the man! Saved me a lot of time not to mention saving me from taring up my wiring harness unnecessarily.

It was almost perfect, but the lock button unlocked the doors and vice versa. I switched the alarm leads and it worked perfectly!

So where do I need to send the beer?

Yes! The signals from the door switches pass right through.

Actually, look here for a better diagram.
