Default 383 stock intake stock exaust HP

I was just curious were a 383 with a LE 219 cam, stock heads, stock l98 intake, stock manifolds, with a proper tune would come in on HP/TQ.

I built this motor and i plan on adding headers and a single plane intake later on money just got a little tight.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

thank you.

Great start... It's to bad you could not complete the power robbing parts
You still have stock injectors, tb... I will give you 375 HP 380 TQ
Untill you complete the rest and can utilize your TPI rpm limit

That is higher than i was thinking i was thinking somewere around 300HP and 390ish TQ.

My end goal is to end up somewere around 400 HP and as much TQ as i can get but that all will come later with headers, intake, ect.

I have to agree with you.. I think you would be just at or maybe a bit over 300 hp.. Your stock except for the cam and 33 more cubes. I have a 383, almost the same cam, 180 Dart pro 1 heads, High flo Accel runners, Edelbrock intake manifold, Mega ported plenum with everything port matched, and Hooker ceramic headers, with egr and air delete and 10:25 to 1 compression and Im only putting out 370 hp to 380 hp at the flywheel . This is according to my builder and some of the other guys on the forum...WW

I think you are probably right there.

With a 383 with the 219 cam and around 10.3:1 comp and a straight through exhaust but single 3" center pipe, ported dart 200cc heads and superram I think I was around 430 for torque and 360hp at the wheels (not flywheel) so you know right where to put your money. Like you plan, exhaust, heads and intake (in that order if you really want torque) . It dropped with a short runner intake (5.5" so pretty close to a single plane though I'd love to do back to back testing) but came back up with bigger exhaust and a few other mods, haven't tested after underdrive pulleys, smog delete, ltwt dampener, zf6 swap etc.Hopefully it is in the 40s or 50s now.

My guestimate is: 300 HP @ 4400 rpm - 400 ftlbs @ 3000 rpm

Upgrade that exhaust with headers and aftermarket mufflers

325 HP @ 4500 rpm - 420 ftlbs @ 3000 rpm

Upgrade to the Superram

400 HP @ 5200 rpm - 450 ftlbs @ 3800 rpm

Upgrade to quality cylinder heads

450 HP @ 5500 rpm - 490 ftlbs @ 4000 rpm

Or thereabouts..... good luck !

i guess i did forget to mention that i have flowmaster mufflers no cats and true duels all the way back with a cut lid on the filter.

what i am seeing is the motor seems to want to pull upto about 4500 RPM were as with the old 350 i was falling off around 4000 RPM

also i can lay down some seirous rubber on a start which is always a good thing

I am sure your torque curve is falling drastically at 4000RPM with the 383 (longer stroke) and long runner set up.....I'm sure it "feels" faster all through the RPM range however with the new found cubes.....

What Beach said, but your heads will hold you back. You'll love the torque tho
