cruise control fuse locations??
I am trying to diagnos my cruise control that doesn't work. I replaced all the vaccuum hoses, checked the brake switch, but I feel it's electrical. I checked the fuses at the fuse panel on the right side of the dash board. Is there another fuse or relay for the cruise located somewhere else? When I turn the cruise switch on, the solenoid doesn't make any sounds.

Your profile doesn't list a C4---are you working on your '70?
There's another new cruise control thread in C4 general and I posted links to an '86 FSM that includes a table of voltages to be expected.

3D...thanks for the reply. I am working on an 88 conveetible now. Sold the 70. Forgot to update my profile.
This looks like good info. More avenues to try. Am I correct in assuming there is only one fuse location?

You're welcome.
I only see one fuse in the schematic for the turn signal stem switches. There are two others shown for the instrument cluster & if you have a problem in the cluster they may be relevant.
The posted pages are for an '86 & seem substantially the same as my '87 FSM, but that's no guarantee they apply to your '88.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

You may not even have a "problem". No offense but the best place to start would be with the instrument cluster's part number. Not all of theses clusters are the same - some come from the factory "with cruise" or "with out" it. Since you got the car "used/pre owned" your cluster that is currently in the car may have even been from another car at some point.
Before you go any further with the troubleshooting check the code on the back of the cluster. If your current car has cruise control and the unit you put in comes from a car that didn't have it, your cruise will no longer work.
Here are the codes to look for on the back of the cluster:
LS 84/cruise
LT 84 w/o cruise
LAK 85w/cruise
LAL 85w/o cruise
LAW 86w/cruise
LAX 86w/o cruise
LBS 87-88w/cruise
LBT 87-88w/o cruise
LDL all 89

Well.....don't ask me why, but all of a sudden I tried it today, and it is working. The only thing I have done to her is replace the cluster control panel. My panel MPG switch was broken and I found one on ebay. Put it in, and all the guages work, and so does the cruise. Maybe with all the tinkering, pulling connectors off and on, etc did something, but I'm happy. Thank for all your help.
