Deletion of ASR?
Anyone delete/remove the ASR system from the 92-96 models?
I plan to do some computer work this winter to minimize or make is inoperable, just wondered if one can install a throttle cable from a 91 to replace the current two cables and box?
Less weight right?
:)

Re: Deletion of ASR? (No Go)
i asked about this a while ago. some offered help, but not the answers i needed. you and i are on the same page, here, i can't wait to get rid of it.
i guess all we need to know is the part number for a cable that fits, if such a thing exists. although, i'd also really like a way to retain my cruise control, but that's secondary. isn't the cruise run off the ASR cable controller now?

Re: Deletion of ASR? (MSR)
That little button is how my wife knows when to hold on tight! Whenever I push it, I'm gonna smoke some smart-alec ricer or something and need to let the tires speak to whomever is irritating me, (Usually a good long second gear chirp at 50 mph.)
I don't know if the weight reduction of the elimination of the ASR would be enough to justify modifying it.......just my thoughts, but you know, you gotta make it YOURS, and if you want to yank it, go for it, I'd be interested to know if it makes a difference, would you let us know if it does?..... :)
Good luck!

Re: Deletion of ASR? (DCTC)
There is a setting in tunercat for the traction control to turn it on or off. I turned it off on the PCM and it still came on. Who Knows. That's my experience. There is a table in there for timing retard as traction control comes on so it is tied to the PCM and your timing.

Well weight is weight...one wonders why the later model C4's can be couple hundred pounds heavier than the earlier ones.
It would clean up the engine bay too besides I never use it.
Loosing the cruise control is not an option for me, neither would be AC...
My 91's cables were similar if I remember correctly. They ran from throttle pedal to cruise servo and then to TB. Same positioning too. I think it would work... guess I will have to figure out if a check engine light will be thrown when the ASR is missing...
