Default LT1 Fluids and lubricants specifications

Hi Guys, I'm making an update to my Vette LT1 year 92. I mean changing all kind of fluids and lubricants after I purchased it. I've checked all recommended fluid with GM references, but that would be nice if I was living in USA instead Spain. Here it's not easy to get them so I need to find out equivalent products with same or valid specifications.

1992 Corvette Fluids/Lubricants

Engine Oil: Use SAE 5W-30. However, you can also use SAE10W-30 if it’s going to be 0 F (-18C) or above. The engine requires a special Engine Oil meeting GM Standard GM4718M. Oils meeting this Standard may be identified as synthetic, and should also be identified with the American Petroleum Institute Certified For Gasoline Engines starburst symbol. However, not all Synthetic API oils with the Starburst symbol will meet this GM Standard. You should look for and use only an oil that meets GM Standard GM4718M.

I put 5W40 wich meet SL specifications, because my area is very hot during the summer

Engine Coolant: 50/50 mixture of water (preferably distilled) and GM Goodwrench DEX-COOL or Havoline DEX-COOL (orange-colored, silicate-free) antifreeze
conforming to GM Specification 6277M.

Already done it, after flushing the system

Coolant Supplement Sealer: GM Part No. 3634621 or equivalent with a complete flush and refill.

Hydraulic Brake System: Delco Supreme 11 Brake Fluid (GM Part No. 1052535 or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid).

Can I add DOT4 after flushing the old DOT3?

Hydraulic Clutch System: Hydraulic Clutch Fluid (GM Part No. 12345347 or equivalent).

Parking Brake Cable Guides: Chassis lubricant (GM Part No. 1052497 or equivalent) or lubricant meeting requirements of
NLGI Grade 2, Category LB or GC-LB.

???

Power Steering System: GM Synthetic Power Steering Fluid (GM Part No. 12345866 or 12345867 or equivalent).

I guess any ATF Dexron III should be nice.

Manual Transmission: Manual Transmission Fluid SAE 5W-30 (GM Part No. 1052931 or equivalent).

Mobil 1 5W30, the same that motor uses it's ok??

Automatic Transmission: DEXRON-III AutomaticTransmission Fluid.

Key Lock Cylinders: Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube (GM Part No. 12346241 or equivalent).

Normal multi-purpose

Manual Transmission Shift Linkage: Chassis lubricant (GM Part No. 1052497 or equivalent) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI Grade 2, Category LB or GC-LB.

????

Clutch Linkage Pivot Points: Engine Oil

Floor Shift Linkage: Lubriplate Lubricant aerosol (GM Part No. 12346293 or equivalent) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI Grade 2 Category LB or GC-LB.

Chassis Lubrication: Chassis lubricant (GM Part No. 1052497 or equivalent) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI Grade 2, Category LB or GC-LB.

Rear Axle (Limited Slip Diff.): Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. 12345977) and 4 ounces (118ml) of Limited-Slip Differential Lubricant Additive (GM Part No. 1052358 or equivalent) where required.

I guess any 75W90 LS meets those specifications

Windshield Washer Solvent: GM Optikleen@ Washer Solvent (GM Part No. 1051515) or equivalent.

Hood Latch Assembly, Secondary Latch, Pivots, Spring Anchor and Release Pawl: Lubriplate Lubricant Aerosol (GM Part No. 12346293 or equivalent) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI Grade 2, Category LB or GC-LB.

Hood and Door Hinges: Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube (GM Part No. 12346241 or equivalent).

Weatherstrip Conditioningi-Electric Silicone Grease (GM Part No. 12345579 or equivalent).

Recommended oil, transmission, and all other fluids should meet/exceed the minimum requirements listed above. Current API ratings on oil and transmission fluids exceed those listed at the time the above information was originally

Thanks in advance for your support

For the ZF6 manual trans, do not use regular 5w-30 motor oil. You need to use the specific 5w-30 gear oil for the trans. Many people to use a BMW brand, Castrol, and Amsoil. I recently replaced the oil in mine with Amsoil Synchromesh 5-30 and there is quite a difference in how smooth the gear selection is now.

Thanks for your feedback. The problem is that I can't find this Amsoil here in Europe so I should check for a second choice.

After checking this Link I realised that Mini Cooper use the same one

http://www.boutiqueoils.com/es/aceit...uid-5w-30.html

So i'm wondering if I might buy it in a Mini dealer here.

That might just work seeing that Mini is under the BMW name now.

Do not mix DOT 3 and DOT 4 brake fluid, they are not compatible, and you cannot drain the system completely enough to change over. Be sure to stay with synthetic oil in the engine (GM4718M). Also be sure to use the additive in the differential, helps to prevent (and/or cure) clutch chatter. The other lubricants can easily be generic. On the parking brake cables, use grease that does not attack the plastic covers. If your car is a 6-speed, do not use plain brake fluid in the clutch cylinders, it could result in noisy operation.

Flush and fill both. This fluid is inexpensive and meets spec.

Are you sure about this?? I always understood the only different is that DOT4 boiled at 230*C instead 205*C, but I think DOT4 it's more corrosive and atack seals.

Regarding the motor oil the one I put it's 5W40 full synthetic which meets specifications SL instead SG, but it's valid.

You are correct- it's DOT5 that is incompatible.

I think so. Even DOT5.1 it's compatible.

DOT5 has sylicone base, that's the reason why it's incompatible with others.

Sorry AMSOIL isn't available to you over there. Had a guy contact me from Saudi Arabia last week. Can't help him either.

Good luck finding a good fluid for your Vette.
