the c4 L98 mysterious 245-250 hp
Just wanted to know if somebody can explain how some L98's have 245 hp or 250 hp, is it higher compression? MAF? Or is it the G44 performance vette ONLY? I own a 90 and before my build few people say I may have 245hp then others say 250 i was just wondering Thank you

If the car was optioned with the G92 3.07:1 axle you got the performance mufflers (think all 4 pipes actually work as opposed to just two) with yielded the extra 5hp at 4400rpm.

Thought they got a touch more compression too maybe not.

90-91 were speed density and also 10.25-1 compression
truth be told it's probably a little more. a stock 90-91 car will pull fairly well on an 85-89
most of us know .75 point of compression is worth more than 5hp
the zf6 was also more common in the 90-91 car than it's intro in 1989

COuld this be the OEM exhaust that the C4's had, and that you are talkin about?

90-91 speed Density (MAP, NO MAF), mine is 250hp, the invoice says that
I believed that export models have 250hp and all the export models are 2.56
BADVETTE
If you want to replace the muflers, you can find better options
My car wake up after some mods to exhaust system, I deleted cats, if you need to pass emissions exists several hi flow cat, dual exhaust system with central 2 - 2 muffler and borla rear mufflers.
I dont know how many hp gain but you certainly feel the difference (MORE THAN JUST 5)
Is well know , that L98 exhaust system is not the best

I put a Corsa LT1/LT4 true-dual system on mine...woke it right up.
The only difference between the C4 cars was the sport exhaust...both pipes were open on mine. Came with it as a Z07. I had 250 HP from the factory.
The 3" center pipe on the L98 is FAR more restrictive than dual 2.5" pipes. Corsa says it gives a 15 HP gain over the stock LT1 system, so for an L98 you can easily double that. I never had it put on the dyno before/after, so I have no concrete numbers to give.
I can say that it revs faster, and with the intake work breaths better than it did...once the injection system is sorted and tuned, I plan to go back and dyno it to see where I'm at.
