Default The best Oil Filter for synthetic oil? Is there a difference???

I was wondering if there is a oil filter that is designed for use with synthetic oil. Are all oil filters the same?

Mobil 1 make a great filter but at bit expensive. Napa Gold and the Wix are also very good filters.

no not all filters are as good as others, sometimes the filter paper inside will tear with high oil pressures, i'm sure you can imagine what would happen then.

Some dont filter as well as others either, Mobil 1 is good, K&N too. Dont use a Fram.

stay away from Fram they are junk. Mobil 1 is good, the GM one is good, and there are a few others that are good.

After I change my oil every spring, I check it about every 3-4 weeks. This spring I switched from Delco to K&N. I can't believe how much cleaner the oil is after the 3 week period with the K&N. It's as clean as the day it was changed, and I've done some minor beating on it. Go with the K&N.

Live and learn. I have used Fram filters for years, with no problems, but I do change the oil much more often than most. I am going to try one of the others from now on.

After I researched this issue, I ended up using the AC model UPF1218... It's a direct bolt-on replacement. The only 'disadvantage' is that it is longer than a stock filter and cost more, but... it filters particles down to a sub-micron level that was beyond what the others could filter....

I run the UPF 1218 on my 454 Suburban. I run the UPF 25 on the L98.

Too bad the UPF line has been discontinued by GM. :(

A/C Delco Ultraguard here also. According to emails that I received from A/C they have indeed been discontinued.

I ordered a case from GM Parts Direct ... these will last awhile. I'm hoping that GM will reconsider and bring them back. They are continuing to make the Ultraguard that fits the C5 ... heard that a serious letter writing campaign from the C5 camp did the trick.
