Default Exhaust - gasket needed?

Is there a gasket needed where the exhaust manifold joins the exhaust pipe (three studs with flange). I recall that there was (with older Corvettes) a round donut looking gasket, but my 87 has nothing? Thanks

Also '88 was just a metal-to-metal seal, no gasket.

Thanks Scorp........it does not seem to leak so I guess it is OK. I am in process of changing starter (stuck in ON position due to bad solenoid - wierd problem) and had to loosen exhaust to get to starter connections. The cat air line is a PITA. Thinking about getting the eliminator bracket.

Yeah I hate that line, thats why it is gone. :) You might want to think very hard about putting some antiseize on those bolts while they are off ,and maybe hitting them wits a wire wheel or brush beforehand. Lots of people snap those things right off the manifolds.

I was at the Chevy Dealer ording a bunch of parts and had them look up those gaskets and they told me they were not required. I then went to Autozone and his computer said the samething so I didn't use them and everything sealed up fine.
