Default how far is the waterpump coupler supposed to go over the shaft o-ring? 93 lt1?

Im getting my car back together after a heads/cam change.

I put a new o-ring (correct gm p/n from summit racing) onto the splined waterpump drive shaft. I put a drop of oil on it too.

Anyways, I thought the o-ring would 'disappear' under the waterpump driveshaft coupler as I tightened the waterpump down to the block.

However, it didnt. (see pictures, the o-ring has some yellow paint on it).

I know that the o-ring is there more for vibration and not to 'seal' anything.

However, I hope it didnt somehow 'push' the waterpump driveshaft backwards causing some kind of interference.

Though the rotating assembly spins smoothly?

Should I be concerned?

This picture shows as far as it goes.
