1994 rear end popping and clicking
Hello gang.
I've done a lot of work on my car trying to get it right, including a new transmission, and u-joints on the half shafts. Since getting the car a few years ago though, I've heard this popping and clicking as I start moving forward or in reverse that I can't seem to trace. As soon as it goes in gear I hear it, and then when I start moving. It seems to happen as the load shifts.
Any ideas?
Bob

My 94 was making a similar noise. I noticed it most when I was just starting from a stop especially when turning left. It turned out to be the washer on the left rear wheel.
Take a look at the link below.

Note that further into the thread it states that you don't need to take all of it apart to change the washers. The OP was doing more than that.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the great link with all of the great info. I'm relieved that I'm not looking at catastrophic failure, or $$$$ fix. Sounds like a great weekend job with big rewards.
