Default Fuel Injectors?

Any reason why someone would put Ford Fuel injectors on a 93 LT1? I have Ford F5DEB5A 24 lb Injectors, out of a 97 Crown Vic. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I believe I have the same ones, they're modified fuel injectors from FIC. They are an upgrade over stock.

Before the Bosch III injectors were available the Ford SVO injectors were considered an improvement over the stock injectors

So if I damaged one taking the fuel rail off, I probably cant just replace it with another off the shelf F5DEB5A?

You could. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have the set serviced and flow tested to make sure the new injector has similar flow characteristics to the set.

I'd suggest looking for a used pair or set of 4 to pull the best match from.

OK, thanks. Somehow I broke the little plast ring that retains the O-ring on the top side of the injector, then I proceeded to lose the ring. So I had fuel leaking as soon as it got pressurized.

That o-ring might be replaceable. Could you send me a picture?

The O-ring is replacable and I have spares, its the little plastic part that fits in the groove to retain the O-ring that is broken. Without that retainer, the O-ring can move around and may not sit right. I will try to figure out a picture when I get home. Can you PM your email address just in case I cannot figure out how to upload one here?

PS, in my ignorance I already ordered and installed a Ford F5DEB5A. The car seems to be running fine, but I dont have the tools to figure out if everything is matched, and I didnt even think to look at the hole pattern at the bottom. All I know is that the resistance matches the rest. I thought it was just a drop in replacement.

I meant the plastic piece you mentioned, just used the wrong term.

My request for a picture was to try and determine if just the plastic ring was damaged or if the retaining relief on the injector was damaged as well.

Seems like you got it figured out, though.
