C4 to c6 brake swap question
Ive been reading this thread (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-and-pics.html) and i was wondering if this swap was possible on early c4's (ie.85). any help would be greatly appreciated

As majority of braking done by the fronts most agree larger rears of little benefit (vs cost ) except for bling value

The early C4 (85-87) will need a different caliper adapter bracket than the later (88-on) C4 to mount the caliper. I had thought JeffVette was no longer making adapter brackets but the other thread is 18 months old so you may need to check with him.
The 85 has a different wheel offset (38mm vs the later 56mm) so you may have to use wheel adapters to get a tire/wheel combination to sit properly in the wheelwell to avoid any rubbing or interference.
If the position of the mounting holes for the C5/C6 rear backing plates are the same for the early C4 as the C5, then the rear setup in the other thread should work.

Will the C6 3 piston calipers and rotors fit the early C4 using the same brakets that adapt the C5 caliper rotor setup?
How big are the C6 pistons? I have 2 goals in mind; A rotor caliper combo that will dissapate more heat as well as enough caliper piston to loose the booster and use a ballance bar MC setup
My car is a 84 with 86 spindles.

hey guys sorry to start the thread and vanish lol me and the vette arent on speaking terms at the moment. me and my girl drove it 450mi to bowling green, ky, after leaving the vette muesum my master cylinder goes bad and i have no brakes in thick traffic but dont worry i didnt hit anything luckily. i went and got another one and after pulling mine off i realized the new one hac PBR stamped in it, is this a later model mc? everything bolted up correctly but my brakes are still spongey even after bleexing all the calipers
