Default 85 a/c removal

want to remove non functional a/c compressor and related parts from 85 coupe. to save weight and open up right side of engine bay. a.i.r. pump already gone and replaced with after market pulley when I bought car. anyone make similar unit to replace a/c compressor? any help appreciated.

Why remove the a/c .... maybe it is just me but i hate being hot,
a C4 needs a/c even in mild weather.

The early a/c compressors were like a hand grenade, replaced 2 before upgrading to the 88-91 a/c compressor and bracket. The later a/c is slightly lighter, i have had plenty of years of trouble free a/c since.

Any way you will most likely need to fabricate a bracket to fit a pulley and tensioner so as to use the standard serpentine belts.

beautiful motors all. don't really want to replace working water pump rather just find a/c delete pulley similar to a.i.r. pump delete pulley if possible. looking for simple fix while car is up on stands anyway for new steering rack/poly bushings/ball joints/etc.

I got a Dorman A/C delete pulley and bracket (p/n 34224) from Amazon. Cost was $31.56 delivered to my house. It bolts directly in place of the compressor using all of the factory bolts and the OEM mounting bracket.

Because I also installed a TPiS AIR delete bracket (p/n 4.ACC359 and bought from fleabay), I had to use a slightly smaller serp belt. The AIR kit used a slightly smaller pulley than the OEM AIR pump. I used a Dayco # 5060865 and it fit fine.

all installed worked fine. had to remove valve cover to get inside mounting bolt out and lower middle bolt a real pain and added one washer to align. my valve covers are aftermarket crome w/corvette script on car when i bought. might not be issue w/stock covers.
