Default Need Trans TV Cable Measurement

Can anybody tell me what the distance is from the center of the throttle lever coupling to the cable casing "nosepiece" on a stock 1991 throttle valve cable? It seems like maybe my inside cable is too short in relation to the outside casing. I can get the trans to shift if I set the cable then push the casing back a few clicks (to increase pressure?), but if I go to WOT it pulls the cable out too far and the trans wont shift again. I bot a car that I can't properly set the cable on and it is an aftermarket cable with a square button. Has anyone experienced problems setting an aftermarket cable? There seems to be either a cable problem, or maybe TV spring problem, or something someone screwed up before I got it. Just wondering if anyone else worked through these issues. Thanks
