Default Meziere Water Pump - re-route serpentine ?

Hi guys, since a long time i have been toying with the idea
of getting a Meziere Water pump.
Since im drag racing my '87 this would be a cool addition
to cool it down from pass to pass.

I am looking at Part number WP301U
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MEZ-WP301U/

I have a couple of questions :

- From what i know they can give you around 10-15 HP's back? Is it true ? Not concerned much about this, but it's good to know.-

- I don't have to worry with counterclockwise or clockwise rotation for TPI's right ? that was because of the belt/pulley thing.

I have AC Delete and AIR Delete, when i get the pump , if i get it soon
this would be a nice opportunity to delete the AC and AIR delete pulleys too.

So i would have to re-design my setup.
I have Underdrive pulleys, would that be a problem ?

Here is a reference picture of my current belt route / setup :

I Must use :

Crankshaft
Alternator
Power Steering

So maybe i can get rid of the tensor too ? would that be a good idea?
i think i've seen some guys here did this.
Maybe locate my alternator to the other side ?
Not sure, any suggestions / ideas would be great !

i think this could be a great addition plus should free some power from
the parasitic loss of the mechanical water pump.

I think i will have to use a super short belt too.

Thanks guys !!!

From what i remember Willie and Mseven had modified their setups
but they are still using the tensor.

Mseven at least was still using a mech pump but is using the Alt as the tensioner

As far as retaining the tensioner, you would have to keep it to insure proper tension on the serp belt. The stock belt system has no other way to set belt tension. The various components simply bolt into place.

Won't the PS pump have to rotate in the proper direction? If another routing design has the PS pump rotating the other way, it could very well push fluid out of the reservoir.

I wonder if parts from an LT1 setup would work? Those engines use a direct drive WP so no pulley there. All of the belt-driven pieces are on the left side of the engine (A/C compressor, alternator, PS pump, Idler, and tensioner) There is a A/C compressor delete bracket available.

But finding the LTx bracket may be an issue much less knowing if it would even bolt on to the L98 block and heads. It could be that the crank damper and pulley may have to come from an LTx engine. Clearances between the front crossmember and the crank pulley could be an issue too.

In the pic, it looks like the black upper support brace uses Heim joint ends and a threaded tube to provide tension adjustment.

You have to drop the belt down below the intake ducting some how as 383vett shows and your options for belt rerouting are limited
esp if retaining A/c

Correct
The now adjustable Alt takes the place of the idler pulley.
Belt tension is adjusted and fixed like on old school SBC ; not variables as it is with the stock floating idler
