Default Need a little electrical info

I started my engine today for the first time since the Pro Flo XT install. So far I only have one bug to work out, I have no power to my TPS. The symptoms I was experiencing all point to the tps, backfiring through the throttle body upon acceleration, extremely rich exhaust, and others. I pulled the connector of the tps and tested all 3 terminals with a lite and there is no power at all. I also repinned the ecm to the later 165 model but the tps wires are untouched in the change over. Anyone know where the tps get's it's power? I pulled each & every fuse but all were good. I bought a supposedly good used ecm, could it be that?

The TPS gets 5 volts from the ecm. I think it's the middle wire. It's been a while.

yep...grey wire, 5v ref from ECm. Dk Blu throttle input to ECM..black ground in ECM..NOT frame.

Check ECM power source at jumper post, fusable link, and ECM harness grounds on block/trans bellhousing bolt. There are multiple power sources to the ECM, some hot always, some hot key On, etc..Thats why you cannot assume just because some things do work in the ECM, that it has power everywhere. Different circuits/systems. Trace continuity from TPS plug to ecm grey wire C416. If its dead at the ecm....either power source or internal.

Hi Dan, I had a bad ecm, everything worked except the tps. Put a spare in I had bought and she popped right off. Of course since it was a holiday & everything closed I had my starter go bad before I got all the settings taken care of so I don't know if I have all the bugs out yet or not. Darn cheap mini starter, the bolt holes are elongated which was allowing the starter to **** off to one side. This doesn't do much for engagement. Got a new one on order, if anyone is looking for a mini, AMAZON has one right now for $61. & free shipping, normally it was much higher.

Best mini you can get is the Denso style unit used on the late L98's and the LT1's

That's a good deal for a chrome one. I thought about chrome but it would just be one more thing to clean.
