Default TransGo reprogramming kit in 4L60E trans? anybody?

Has anyone installed a Transgo reprogramming kit for a 4L60E automatic transmission?

LINK to TransGo kit I am speaking of

My trans is in good shape, rebuilt by shop 2 1/2 years ago, now wanting to do the manual upshift and downshift, and to be able to hold it in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd,gear without the "automatic" computer determining what gear to be in. I run synthetic fluid, and it is due for a fluid and filter change, so that would be the best time to install such a kit. Video is at the link above, makes it look easy.

I wish to NOT have to remove the trans to do this work. Is that possible?

Any help appreciated.

I installed one of Dana's modified HD2 shiftkit (The Dana from Pro built) years ago. Its was easy to do from under the car. Its a little messy doing it under the car since tranny drips the entire time the pan was off.

I was under the impression you had to pull the tranny when doing the transgo kit...correct me if I'm wrong guys...

I have the B&M transpak in my vette and I am pleased with it. Messy job but worth it. Allows you to down shift, etc

Transgo for the 4L60E offers maybe as many as 4 re-programming packages. I'd maybe ask the re-builder which he might recommend. Most re-builders likely would have used their basic "shift kit" when the build was done. I don't believe there many builders that don't have what they call "their way" opinions. I'd ask!

........ There are parts included in the Transgo kit that require disassembly ... but they are optional / additional performance mods that compliment the performance of the package ... ALL shift kits require removal of the valve body however ... triple check each step before you remove / replace or drill any part of the valve body or the separator plate and make absolutely certain that ALL the check ***** go back where the instructions indicate ... vaseline or Trans Goo will help hold the ***** in place ... do NOT use grease of any kind ..........

I may be wrong about it being Transgo. May have been B&M but was wired in, not a valve body mod.

I did a TransGo in a 700R4 once. It was fine but I think I like the B&M Trans Pak better. I like the shifts, harder and smoother at the same time. I've installed Trans Paks in TH350, 700R4 and 4L60E.

Band M kits are ok if u keep the stock 1-2 accumulator piston and spring if the 3-4 is fine to use the spacer in i do it on my stock rebuilds blocking the 1-2 will make a very hard 1-2 shift will do internal damage after a while the hd 2 kit from transgo offers more options plus updates the lock up converter valve

I've got a Transgo kit in my 4l60e. It was installed when the tranny was built for the track.

The TransGo Shift kit is a good start, but I do much more and tailor the Shift kit to match what you have. My goal is transmission "durability", and that can't be done with overly firm shifts. With this modified version, it will give you smoother shifts at part throttle, very quick shifts at WOT, and quicker 3-2 downshifts. I add the Sonnax forward pinless accumulator. A modified 2nd accumulator piston with a much longer pin bore along with a hardened accumulator pin (RC52) to vastly improve the accumulator piston life. New piston and oem pin for the 4th accumulator. Torlon checkballs to replace the steel ones to stop the ruining of the separator plate. New EPC solenoid filter. Updated Viton seals for the Corvette and 4th apply servo to replace the scarf cut oem teflon seals. I add the necessary drill bits or a pre-drilled separator plate for the right shift firmess depending on what diameter and stall torque converter you are using, how you drive, rear end gear ratio, what has been done to the motor, etc. The valve body gaskets and modified instructions included. This kit can be installed from the bottom of the vehicle.

Found the pics. Did the transgo kit from underneath.

However, it didn't fix my issue...

This was the problem

I broke a couple of the fins inside of the torque converter, and goofed up the shaft too.

Fix was a rebuild and a vig 3500.
