Default crossfire injector question

My 84 sat for about a year.
Yesterday it wouldn't get gas from either injector.
It will run if I pour a little gas in by hand.
I took both injectors out & cleaned them. I just sprayed engine cleaner at them.
This is the crazy part, "without" putting the injectors back in, I started the engine, & it ran.
So I put the injectors back in, & no start.
Because I think it odd that both injectors got stuck at the same time, & its hard to hook up a pressure guage. My fuel line nut is rounded.
My question is, can I eliminate fuel pressure, as it ran without the injectors. How should I clean the injectors?
I know its crazy, But your input may save me time & BS.
I can't remeber my crossfire.com name & passsword, & alot of them are here anyway.
Thanks
7thvet, first injected one.

check the fuse block. there is a fuse for injector 1 and 2.
same for fuel pump.

listen for fuel pump to come on when key is turned before engine start....it runs for 1-2 seconds. or just disconnect a fuel line and see if fuel is pumping.

sounds like you have spark...so start with fuel system.

there are some ultrasonic jewels cleaner you can use to clean injectors, but the best is connect a can of brake cleaner using some pvc tubing, pulsate injectors using a button and 12 volts source, having this assembly into an ultrasonic bath in a jewels cleaner machine (btw this machine is relatively cheap)

I highly doubt that both injectors went bad at the same time.

Did it run from the fuel that was pouring into the engine from the injector housings?? That's about the only source of fuel, that I can think of...

Not at all. You have to check your FP. You can easily "T" into the fuel line where the rubber fuel hose runs from the frame, to the engine. Piece of cake.

do you hear injector pulsate?or do you see somethingh flowing trough when cranking?in my c4 85 (TPI) in the box fuse i have 2 bank inj fuses.May be do you shorted to ground injectors connectors while removing them? and blown fuse...
The car run whitout injectors becouse of fuel flowing trough injectors housing...it like pouring gas to start up engine. If i was you i'll go to basic ceck:
clogged fuel lines,clogged fuel filter,fuel pressure ,bad fuel pressure regulator,injectors fuses,injectors connectors,injectors

Yes I hear the fuel pump & its pumping thru the injector housing.
I tried hooking 12 volts to one but it sparked like a dead short.
I can't imagine both fueses blowing either.
I have the injectors soaking in gas now. I do have a friend with an ultrasonic cleaner.
I'll check for the rubbber hose from frame to engine & check pressure.
I probably won't get to it till Monday. Thanks all for the ideas.

Update.
I disconnected the fuel lines, checked the fuel pump fuse, & jumped 12v to terminal G. No fuel.
Tomorrow, I'll take apart the fuel door & check for voltage at the pump.
Its moot now but I ordered a FI gasket kit, cleaned the injectors & verified the pulses with a noid light..
Any tips at this point are appreciated,I know get an 85 pump, any brand? Not NAPA thats for sure.
Thanks again.

I pulled the pump, the 1 inch long rubber line that connects the pump to the feed line has disentigrated.
How can I tell if its an 84 or 85 pump?

If you take the sock off the bottom of the pump and look up into the pump, if you see vanes, or something that looks roughly like a turbine fan, then it is an "84 pump" -or a pump for a TBI engine. If it has little rollers, then it is an "85 pump" or more accurately, a positive displacement pump for port EFI engines.

At least....that's the difference that *I* saw last time I compared the two...that was over 10 years ago.

Try forum vendor Racetronix - they have a complete kit for your car for approximately $90.00 including a new pump, fuel line, wire and connectors, new gasket and bolts.

I put it back together already before I could check the pump type. Turned on the key, & gas shot from the front injector, across the room. So now I wait for the gasket kit for the injectors.
I'm sure it will be fine after I fix the leaks I made.
Thanks everyone.
Cliffs: car sat, hose on fuel pump rotted in the tank.
