DRM Coilover Help
I have a 95' C4 and bought it almost a year ago. It came with its current set-up of DRM coilovers. My questions is (as I am not to suspension savvy) can I use QA1 shocks or any other performance shocks to replace the custom valved Bilsteins that are with this current set up? Has anyone ever gone with Bilsteins Z51 shocks? I have been already working with DRM, and they are looking into finding me the original source to what shocks to use. Though this is taking a long time and if I could buy racing type shocks say QA1s or something equivalent I would like to get the parts ASAP! Thanks

IDK if the QA1's will come with the snap ring needed to support the coilover sleeve. If the car has bilsteins now you can send them back to bilstein and have them rebuilt or custom valved anyway you like. I think this was about 80 a shock if I remember correctly.

As far as I remember the "sleeves" that have the height adjusting thread on the DRM coilovers just slipped over the Bilstein Shocks that came with the kit. Then the threaded "rings" that the springs sit against are threaded onto the sleeve, If they (the threaded sleeves)do the same with the QA1 shocks you can go that way - or you can use a set-up that was meant for the QA1 shocks.
The end goal is to have a height adjustable mount for the spring that attaches to the shock. As long as you end up getting there - the way you get there is up to you.

A QA1 coil over would require all new hardware including springs. I've had both. What is the situation that you feel you need the shocks rebuilt or replaced? Do they leak? There needs to be a "reason" to feel that you need the shocks rebuilt or what ever.
There's no reason that you couldn't buy most any Bilstein shock and have them grooved locally and reassemble them and move on. On the shocks presently on the car there's a part number stamped in each shock 1/2" from the bottom of the cylinder of each, it's maybe 1/4" lower than the sleeve and in 1/4" characters. Generally the shock number will be maybe 7 digits long. Are your shocks FX3 or just shocks?

Save your money!!!
I track my 95 and have Blistein shocks...love them at Watkins Glen, Pocono, NJMP, and Lime Rock. You have a great set-up. DRM has been racing Vetts for along time and vast knowledge. I recommend you save your money. Look into other modifications...IMHO.
