Default Lifting an LT1

What is the best way to pull/lift an LT1 out of a 94?

Can it be done using a lift plate bolted to the manifold?

Yes it can. There is a plate made called the happy hooker. It bolts to the manifold and the balance is correct. With the transmission disconnected, it will lift straight up with the accessories, headers, everything attached.

Edit to add, look at this post and see no. 2. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-any-tips.html

What do you mean by accessories attached ? What are the list of things should I disconnect to make the engine ready to lift ?

Sorry Mohammed I'm not going to write a complete engine removal thread off the top of my head. Its not that hard to pull an LT1 from a corvette. At the minimum you need to remove/disconnect everything you don't see attached in these two pictures

Thanks for the input, I had my engine rebuilt a couple years ago but it has had oil leaks ever since and its getting pretty bad, so some mechanic friends and I are going to pull it, clean it up and fix all the leaks. I am mechanically inclined but never pulled an engine before. I have the shop manuals and two really good mechanic friends.

If its leaking from the top or the front its quicker leave the engine in the car and remove the intake and reseal the china walls. If its the opti or waterpump gaskets its still easier to replace the seals in place. IDK if I'd pull the engine for an oil leak. Changing the plugs maybe.... Intake leak... no way. LT1 has a dry intake so it can be R and R'd(removed and replaced) in a couple of hours.

It is leaking from several location including the oil pan, It is a royal pain to change that gasket and I do want to clean it good and change the plugs and wires while its out

For me, the hardest part is keeping the wiring straight and getting the harness back where they were. I tagged everything but for some reason it was tough especially the harness that goes across the back of the motor. But after the transmission is disconnected, basically it pulls much easier then most other cars.
