I have a 1993 Corvette with 69000 original miles that will crank but it won't start. A couple of nights ago on the way home it chugged a few times and when we got to the end of the exit ramp it shut off. We coasted it to the gas station, filled it with gas and still nothing. After towing it home, we have changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump. It will turn and turn but just won't start. I thought about checking the fuel pump relay but I can hear the fuel pump come on when the key is on. Any thoughts?

Like they said, check that you have spark. Bad news is that's how mine acted when my opti died.

Just because the pump is running is no indication you have actually have fuel flow and the correct pressure at the engine.
Testing with a pressure gauge is only way to confirm correct pump operation

I haven't checked for spark yet. That's next on the list. By Opti, you mean the distributor Optispark?

What do have to replace if the Opti is bad ? Is that the distributor ?

We do have spark and we are getting fuel to fuel rails. Still the opti?

Spark at the coil or plugs? What's the fuel pressure at the rails?

We are getting spark at the plugs. We don't have a tool to measure the pressure. We just used the schrader valve. It will putt a few times but won't turn over.

Do you have a chip between the prom and the ECM ??? if so try to remove it and install the factory PROM by it self.... try that and let me know...Joe

Unfortunately I don't have my FSM with me at the moment. But if you're getting 'good' spark at the plugs, then I'm leaning towards a fuel issue. The fuel system runs at around 40+/- PSI. Having fuel at the rails, and having fuel at the right pressure at the rails, are two different things. You need to get a pressure gauge. Also check the fuel pressure regulator.
