Default C4 Hood Latch assembly, holding water

My '95 convertible's driver side hood latch assembly is holding water, but the passenger side is not.

Are there drain holes in the C4 hood latches that can get plugged?

Thanks for the help.

There are drain holes in the lower corners. They are plugged with gunk. My car had mini swimming pools on both sides when I bought it. Suck the water out with a turkey baster and then dig out as much gunk as you can from the top. Use water under pressure to force the rest clear. I think I used a little brake clean as well to move the process along.

They should have figured out a way to add drain holes in the rear hatch over the C4 generation too...

Aftermarket even made a kit to drill and tap a drain hole with a tube at one time, don't know if it's still made.......WW

You don't need any of this stuff. The best way is to remove the striker plates from the latches and clean out the drain holes at the bottom of these brackets. While the striker plates are out, put some grease on the pivots for the hood latches. These plates go back together without any adjustments necessary. Easy job, and just good maintenance (if you like the idea of reliable hood latches)!

Default Drill the holes

a little larger! You can even put in an extra hole. Crap is gonna get in there eventually and plug 'em up same as gas filler drain. I put an extra drain there too. If you park where there are a lot of trees, it happens. I clean them all couple times a year.

All you need is a barbed fitting and some black tubing.
Drill a hole and tap for the fitting.
Install the tubing and cut to length that doesn't drip water over wiring.

Probably costs all of $5. Or buy the "kit" and spend $20 for the same parts.
