Default Borla Cat Back SS Exhaust Opinions From Those That Have Used It Please

This exhaust seems nice for the price...If you have used it before please let me know what your thoughts are on fitment, sound and performance. In the description it says that it is "S Type"

I should also note that my main concerns are avoiding the dreaded drone and how the system looks. Yes performance is important, but as long as it performs at least as an equal to stock, I am fine with that, if it has the other 2 improvements I am looking for.

I've had the Borla ZR1's on now for almost 10 years. I love the quality and they still look new. But do have a drone. Very common for Borlas.

Well, the Borlas are out then, even though I love the look. My number one priority is avoiding the drone and keep it comfortable to drive. Next would be look and fitment...last would be performance above stock. I also looked at the Magnaflow cat back system and everyone seems to complain about that one too. Is there a reasonably priced, SS cat back system that definitely avoids the drone?

Define "reasonably priced" first. I have thought of switching from Borla S-type to Touring because they said it was better in the drone. If so I will get rid of the mufflers for a reasonable price. New ones will cost about $500 and you need a "Y" section pipe.

Reasonably means in the $600-$700 range for the SS cat back system. If no one makes a cat back with the mufflers I need for a nice quiet ride I am willing to piece it together, but knowing me I will forget something lol. If anyone has a no drone system, please post. I was attracted to the Borla Stingers because they looked cool.

I believe someone mentioned Corsa as such an option but they run north of 700 I think.

Wow.. Seem a lot of people have drone Issues with the Borlas.... I really don't have any drone issues what so ever.... With Top on steady cruise me and the wife can have a normal conversation... With the top off and the wind we don't even bother to talk... I prefer the top off

What about even a stock flowmaster exhaust? Any drone problems there? That Corsa system is over $1100 on Jegs.com. It won't look like anything special like I think the Borla exhaust would but I don't want DRONE. The flowmaster claims "stock to mild exhaust tone."

Wait.....you mean I won't be able to hear my wife speak? Maybe I WILL go with the Borla system. It just looks so nice compared to 4 plain pipes sticking out.

Oh, I like the top off since the view is great. As to the roof, mine doesn't come off usually.

I just noticed this flowmaster SS system http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowmaster/389/817632/10002/-1 ....not much to look at but possibly ok? So hard to decide....The less expensive stock to mild sounding one is even plainer...but probably seems like the quietest http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowmaster/389/17153/10002/-1

Thanks for that link, it was helpful, though I still am not sure what to get lol. My thing is that I am not looking for any performance upgrades above stock, but I want it to look and sound nice with no drone. I have been a Turbo Buick guy for many years, was all Corvette before that. My Buick is 900hp, so nothing about this stock 90 Corvette I inherited will ever impress me speed wise, stock, upgraded or otherwise. What I am looking forward to is all the great handling and mild performance with pump gas. It is really reminding me of my very first performance car from when I was 17, a 1975 Camaro. The Vette is just more refined and monster in the corners compared to that. Flowmaster is looking like a more likely candidate right now, I just wonder if I should step it up to the slightly louder than stock all stainless one or not.

Well I have to tell..I had a complete flowmaster set on my BB 68 camaro it was loud and the drone was unbearable on the highway...sounded great at idle and in the city...but steady cruise on the highway was pure torture....

Whatever you decide good luck and stay safe
