Default Need some ZF S6-40 dimensions

Anyone have a drawing/dimensions of the bellhousing to trans bolt pattern? (NOT bellhousing to engine) Going to build an adapter plate and would rather have some dimensions to compare what I measure.

Cheers,

Are you wanting the transmission bolt pattern dimensions?

I have a ZF on the shop floor - I can take some pics/measurements on Monday if you don't get any help sooner.

Don't know your intentions but maybe you might consider a Quick Time RM-6039 bellhousing for your project. Some application guides mention LS engines but it will do all Chev V8 with either flywheel tooth combination.

I guess for a Lemons racing project expensive but it would make the ZF "live" -

Here's the complete Quick-Time offering:

Correct. The bolt pattern where the bellhousing bolts up to the transmission.

Thanks, but no need; I have the same. . . I was hoping for something more 'official' if you will.

Yeah, unfortunately they don't have the engine I'm trying to bolt up to :/. Need the bolt pattern so I can adapt the ZF trans to the bellhousing of the swap motor.

.... The LT1 versions had a stainless steel shim that went between both the block and bell and the trans and bell ... that would be an excellent pattern/template for what you are doing ... I just sold a couple of bell housings that had 'em ..........

10174449 - insulator that's long discontinued but it would certainly be appropriate.

OP - PM sent!

I have a bell housing with an insulator on it that I could send to you to use as a template. would need a deposit on it as I want it back. it appears that none of the bolts are perpendicular to another bolt, but the two vertical bolts on the drivers side appear to be parallel with the two bell housing mounting bolts so you could use this as a point of reference.
off topic, what are the two insulators for as my 89 zf does not have these?
any one know?

Insulators weren't added until '91 for the L98 and I've no idea why. Is there mention in the FSM? I don't know.

..... Possibly a galvanic barrier ... either that or fire safety ... magnesium will go up like a road flare under the right conditions ...

Thanks, I'll let ya know. I was hoping for some factory dimensions and may be with some tolerances. The further off I am (.010") and I'll start chewing through bearings :/

That can certainly be an issue even with the "real" parts! That's why there's offset dowels that most/some don't ever consider using or even checking the relationship of the transmission input shaft to the crankshaft center when doing some of the more exotic builds.

Quiz? How many laps do you generally complete in one of the 2 day events? How many events are in your general area?

1.) As many as we can.
2.) Several - VIR, NJMP, Kershaw, Road Atlanta, all on the radar.
