stroker kit question

Le Mans Master
Rotating assemble.... Crank, rods, pistons..Most kits should come balanced already, but I don't know if they do a good job or not, or how many grams they balance it too...I guess it depends on which kit you buy..Someone on here will know.....WW

It needs to be balanced before it is assembled. Give your block, crank, rods, pistons, balancer and flexplate/flywheel to the machinist. I don't know what kind of stroker you are building, but the by giving all the pieces to the machinist, they can do the needed clearancing and balancing.

I can't stress enough how important it is to find a quality machinist. My assembly was balanced to less than .5 grams. A properly balanced engine will last longer and spin up faster.

To many variables in parts and assembly charges to answer that question... I had a mild 383 built a couple years ago. Nothing fancy, cast crank, hyperutectic pistons and a good set of Dart Pro 1 heads, and it cost me around $4,200 for the 4 bolt longblock..By the time I put a complete intake on the engine, plus a set of Hooker super comp ceramic headers, I had about $6,000 in the completed ready to drop in engine..So now you have a guideline , you can search the engine sites to see if you can buy a completed engine for the same or less money..........WW

I would take the block to a machinist and have them figure out how much boring is required. Then purchase the parts separately and let the machinist do his magic.
