Default transmission leak, need advise-

good day everyone, I need some advice. I recently purchased a 84 corvette. after checking all the fluids I noticed the transmission looked low. I checked it while it was running after a drive and it was barley showing any level at all. added a quart of dex II approved and still not much of a rise, it still looks low but now it is leaking fluid. Did I do something wrong or am I missing something. Transmission does run and shift fine. Please advise..

You probably need anoher quart or two. Time to get underneath to find out where it's leaking. If it wasn't leaking befoe and it is now, it could simply be the filler tube rubber gasket. That would be the easiest and cheapest fix.

Add some fluid, put on parking break, put it in R and the other gears and drop down and look, you will know if its leaking

Might get lucky and just be the pan seal, if not have a shop look at it, there are also a lot of threads here, I have a big thread about it

Your more obvious sources of leaks are the pan, cooling lines, filler pipe seal, TV cable seal and VSS O-ring. It's pretty rare to leak at the output shaft seal, but it does happen.

Also it is quite common for these transmissions to leak at the front pump seal. I have two 700r4s and they both leak there.
