Would totally depend on the backspacing of the wheels your going to put on.
It is not the move from 16" to 17" that needs adapters so much as it is the different back spacing that newer wheels "might" have over your old wheels.
FYI, you could actually purchase 17" wheels with the correct backspacing so no adapter would be required.

If you have 9.5" OE wheels they would sit just like your car is presently with the 3/4" - with the 1" they would sit 1/4" further "out". Should be OK. If you have 8.5" wheels with a 3/4 they would sit nearly 1/4" further out and with the 1" nearly 1/2".
I based my comments on a 9.5 x 17 @ 56mm from a '90.
*** A '90 wheel has depressions between each lug nut mounting hole and there would be "no interference" if you can find 19mm or 3/4" hub-centric/wheel-centric adapters.

FWIW, 90 wheels will bolt right on, but the tire may scuff the inner wheel well during extreme turning.
Corvette wheels are lug-centric, so I wouldn't be too worried about finding hub-centric adapters.
My 86 came with 90 wheels and no adapters and I never knew they were the wrong offset until I joined here.
I eventually swapped to 90 ZR1 wheels, so I used 3/4" lug-centric adapters on the front(to better match the look of the rears) and nothing on the rear. (90 ZR1 rear wheels are wider than front)
