Default pulled these codes help

p0100
p0400
p1641
p1661

one code is maf, and one is egr, do i need to just replace them both or can i test them some how first..

A code indicates a fault somewhere in the whole system
Could be wiring , grounds , connections or the unit itself at fault

You need to work through the diagnostic flow chart for a code in the FSM to identify where the fault actually lies before throwing $$$ at it

Linked below is the diagnostic flowchart for a TPI car to give you a idea of how it works

Someone with a '96 may be able to put the diagnostics up for you if you don't have the FSM
( considered essential ownership if you want to wrench on your own car )

I have a 96. For the P0400, check out this thread where I have a pic and instructions. I repaired mine first. It lasted 2 months then the SES light came on again so I ordered a new AC Delco replacement. So far so good.
