You might search ram air as there is a member who bought out a supplier of this type system and is in development of continuing the product line. Sorry cant remember who but hopefully someone will.

Generally Cold Air Intake is associated with outside air, Your stock set up even with cut air lid still picks up air from under the hood or behind the bumper and crash bar assembly.

Negative. It is a fully, hot under hood air intake. Just like most of the aftermarket "cold air intakes" for 'Vettes that draw hot air.
How is that location not cold air? Just look at the thing! All of the actual "cold" air that is
coming in the front of your car" is going through the radiator, and out the bottom. None of it gets to the air filter b/c it is sealed out of the air filter area by the radiator shroud. The air the filter housing is ingesting is the same hot air, from the same general air space as all the other hot under hood air. You tell us; Where is it getting COLD air from??

Exotic Muscle still has them. I just want the front part that goes in place of the plate, but it doesn't appear that they sell it by itself.

This is one of those arguments that has been around a long time, like the thermostat. It's easy to check intake temp and I have always found them really close to ambient (except at extended idle). Awhile back I posted thermal airflow pictures showing how much comes in the hood gap.
It has been dyno proven there isn't much gain in cold or ram air intakes. The stock system is decent till higher power levels. I have a ram air intake on mine just because of the high speed in road course racing (you need a lot of speed before it helps).

1. Dyno tests won't show the hot air intake to be problematic, b/c the hood is open, and a fan iss circulating air, and
2. The drag track. Car sits in staging lanes, idling or not, by the time the light turns green, you're engine is ingesting air that is 200*F or higher. Not ideal. Not "cold air".

I don't have Dyno numbers but I can tell you that the 2nd to 3rd shift (LT1 A/4) around 90MPH definitely kicks harder than before the mod. The car also runs a couple of degrees cooler at speed.
In my opinion, this Mod is definitely worth the effort!

Sorry to burst your bubbles but I actually did some testing on this few weeks ago. -96 with cut lid and k&n filter. No additional ducts or holes.
90F day outside, I took a digital cooking thermometer and placed it in the intake ducting between maf and tb. with fully warmed engine, at idle the intake air temp was ~30 degrees hotter than ambient air.
As soon as I went over 20mph, intake air temp was only few degrees warmer than ambient air. No matter if cruising or flooring it, air temp didn't go up
that's cold enough for me, no reason to cut holes for one or two degrees.
