The whole high nickel thing is a bs myth sorry

maybe BS by todays standards. I remember nickel blocks from back in the 60's, and 4 bolt main versions were highly sought after motors. I'm thinking the castings were either 10 or 20% nickel, and only designated to some trucks and hi-po chevys though. not sure about todays motors. with todays manufacturing techniques, the higher nickel content may be a thing of the past. I recently read, the nickel thing ended in the mid 90's for regular production. total BS - not sure, but read this from TPIS on the LT1/LT4 series engines -

Far as your LTx probably has much better casting than the old dinosaurs of yesterday.
Strong enough

The new motors ls1 and so on are aluminum blocks not cast iron. The lt1 and 4 are cast iron just like all gen 1 small blocks as for nickel content the more nickel the stronger the block.

Burning Brakes
I remember a discussion on this over on the C3 board a while back. I dont really remember if there was any real answer. Got pretty heated though.

high tin
Here is reference to a "high tin" block from the gm performance parts catalog back in the late 80's. I didn't see any high nickel blocks.
