Default Capping AIR tubes

I'm thinking about removing the smog/AIR pump to de-clutter my engine bay. I don't want cut off or mangle my AIR tubes going into the exhaust manifolds. Can they be capped in some way with a thread-on cap at their input end?

I used threaded brass caps, shined them up and painted them with clear spray paint - looks nice.

I had the air tubes on my Hooker long tubes for years with standard pipe caps with no issues. When I installed a new engine a few years ago I went the next step and cut all the air tubes off the headers and welded them shut. It's amazing how much more room there now is to work in that area!

If you dont have EPA inspections just get rid of all of it. It makes it so much easier to work in and around the manifold area. Changing spark plugs is a dream. You can have them welded up or I used a 5/16" tap after cutting the tubes about 1/4" above the manifold. I then threaded a really short 5/16" bolt in each hole.

First picture capped and second picture removed completely. You can see how much more room there is to work now.

McMaster Carr sells stainless steel ones which can be shined up nicely...

I have been looking for a nice solution myself.

I am leaning towards the - 8 AN flare cap.

Is 1/2" NPT threads the same as a - 8 AN?
