88 water pump leak at the weep hole?
I have only had leaks at the water pump weep hole that leaves a small puddle that let you know to replace as soon as possible so I have a question.
I have getting green coolant at the front of the oil pan right at the V brace and flows off the oil pan. I don’t see any coolant looking down from the top. Water pump, Edelbrock, is 5 years old but has only 5000 miles during those 5 years. Can it be the weep hole? It’s at a stage where most of the coolant evaporates before it gets to the garage floor.

Might be able to check the area with a mirror and flashlight to see better. Also check the oil cooler and hoses. I knew a guy who ended up getting a hole in one of the metal hard lines for the cooler on the front of the pan area.

My aluminum cooler hose has been off my car for 15 years. The line developed a hole in it due to up and down suspension movement. I’m running black heater hose to bypass the system. Most of my water pumps leaked much more. This is a very small leak. My guess is the pump. I'm I correct or I am not seeing things correctly?

The 88 has enough room for you to check the weep hole with your fingers engine off of course (run the engine for a while and get normal operating temp then TURN IT OF and feel for a wet spot)
Also check the top radiator hose at the thermostat housing, squeeze the hose a few times firmly and look for any water drips.
If it leaks there it will be hard to see and follow the block down.
You can get the bearings and seals replaced reconditioned, but that is a lost art with the throw away Chinese ones.

, but it's not so much the gaskets as the mounting bolts. if I'm not mistaken, the lower LH bolt goes right into the water jacket. when mounting a water pump, those threads have to be clean, dry, and properly sealed. if the leak is from the LH side of the pump, that would be my first check. either way, any leak will most likely require pulling the water pump. not hard work, just a lot of it...
