Fuel tank bladder
Hey guys.....I have a 89 that has a lot of rust in the tank from the filler tube/sending unit.
There is rust that seems to be embedded into the rubber bladder.
Is there a good way to clean it in the car? or can you remove the bladder inside the tank and get rid of the bladder without removing the tank?
Just trying to avoid removing the tank since it look like a pain to remove.
Plan on installing a new stainless filler neck / sending unit. If I have to pull the tank I will just buy a new aftermarket tank.

Buy a new tank. There is not an easy fix. This is common. Water gets in and rots the sender assy. The rust then settles in/on everything and destroys the pump and will even work its way to the injectors past all the filtration.
You can have the tank cleaned by a shop but that's just as costly as buying a new one that's guaranteed clean.

Buy a good used one from one of the C4 recyclers. I know that www.vette2vette guarantees his parts.
Others might too.

If you decide to replace your tank, here's a trove of like-new tanks removed from late '80s Vettes being turned into race cars. Been in dry storage ever since. Asking $100 plus s/h from central Indiana.

Just trying to avoid pulling the tank right now.
Indianavette....I will keep those tanks in mind if I end up having to pull the tank.
