Default Help No AC

Hi folks my 92 lt1 has no ac, the outside air temp always reads 50 degrees, the clutch wont kick in, I can jump the compressor and it will work. the cars nose was replaced and the sensor is where it should, though there is no wiring going to the plug, is there any way to trick the climate control to think its hot enough to turn on the compressor? it seems like eerything is working and does low cold when compressor is jumped. Hope I this is enough info, thanks up front, Joe

I am unaware of any way to bypass that sensor, maybe someone else will chime in.

thanks for the quick reply, if I could get a schematic with pin numers and wire colors Im sure I can get around that input.

The programmer controls the compressor and is microprocessor controlled. It likes to by happy and see all the inputs that goes to it (it's not a question of hot or cold). If there is a code in it, it might just not activate the compressor. The compressor should run basically at any outside temperature but it may need to have some indication of what it is.

According to my 94 FSM, the wires going to it are GRN/BLK and a black wire. If you install a 2500 ohm resistor, it will give you a normal temperature of about 80 F. That may get you going till you get the proper outside sensor connected. If you get this far, you will also need to clear the code and see if it stays away. Taking the battery cable off is one way, or pulling the fuse for the programmer. Then you can try the compressor again.

Thanks pcolt 94, I was hoping to find where the black and green originated from and black went to. I guess when they rebuilt the front end the wires were terminated somewhere. I planned on running new wire or just rig a resistor to se what temp I get to turn on the compressor.

I can't see the mess you might have there. But I would think it would be in your best interest to really put in a 110% to find the wire bunch. Are all the front end wires cut or what?

If push comes to shove, you can put a resistor on the actual connector to the programmer. That’s no piece of cake to do either as the programmer has to be unbolted, and to un-connect a connector that you can't really see. But once it's off, it will drop down where you can work on it.

I think the wires arein the area I can't access in the nose as it looks like they run down the drivers side and across the front. I think they did an allright job putting the car back together as everything up there works.....except that! Guess I will start digging for a green and black, after work. Thanks again!

I took a look at my car. Wire cable comes from the front left to the right and goes to the lights on right side and fender. But I can't see much except the green/black and black wire which come out near the sensor. It then goes to a connector that changes to 2 black wires. I think you might need to pull the plastic shroud off the radiator and condenser to really get a better look in there and you might be able to see something.

Disconnect and reconnect the battery and see what happens. If the front end was smashed and opened the Sensor, that set the Code. It may have been rebuilt correctly, but until that Code is gone, it won't work, so do the battery thing first.

Ill try tomorrow to pull the plastic before it goes in to the radiator abyss to see if I can find green and black. SunCr, thanks ut its not a reset, theres no wires going to the sensor, Ill do that after I hook it up though haha
