Head / Cam TPI Combo

Head / Cam TPI Combo
I have a '90 l98 6spd car i want to upgrade cam/heads on. I have settled on the AFR 180's after considering Trickflow 175's (to keep compression up). The 90 cars are supposed to have 10.25:1 so the 65cc heads will take me down some, to about 9.5. I plan on running a .028 gasket to get some back, and i'm looking at a cam i think will be a good compliment to the car and heads, specs below. The car already has upgraded TPI hardware, AS&M runners, Accell base, ported plenum. The exhaust is Hooker SuperComp 1 3/4 long tubes and Corsa catback. Also have 1.6rr already in place and the car runs well. The cam is the Lunati Voodoo 262, i don't see many people here running it but it would seem to be a good fit, seems very much like the lingenfelter 211. This cam by my calculations would give me right about 8.00:1 DCR which would be good, and fit the modified TPI well. This would seem to be a good fit to me, am i missing something? Any input appreciated before i start spending $$$ :-).

Jim,
I love your setup.
Any thought towards having your 113 heads ported to bypass the compression 'issue, keep the 58CC chambers? My brother has a similar setup (Big mouth, AS&M runners, 1.6's, TPIS Headers etc) on his '90 and we are discussing similar head/cam options. I like the idea of sending his heads off to Lingenfelter for their CNC job or another reputable porter and be done with it.

i though about that and inquired with TPIS. They want $1250 to port and redo the heads. I believe Lingenfelter is a little higher. That's just a little less than brand new modern heads. i don't want to put that kind of $$$ into 113 heads. I only want to do this once, if i do it again it's because i'm doing a 383, and the AFR's will translate over better then the 113's. That's why i was originally looking at the Trickflow 175's. They amount to ported out 113's but are more modern, and brand new.

Check out Fel-Pro 1094 head gaskets. 0.015" compressed thickness, and with stock deck height usually at 0.024", that puts you at 0.039" quench area which is perfect for running a good amount of timing. And it'll boost your compression up some.

That Lunati oughta pass smog no problem
Jim good combo you got planned there dont change a thing;sounds good
bout the only other thing you can do is take the grinder to the base. Not huge gains but they are there...or do it later if you want a little more
Spend $ on the tune it will pay off.
