Default Installing Cats and Brackets

I'm installing the stock exhaust on my 96 GS. It had a full aftermarket exhaust. I'm trying to install the brackets for the cats, but the clearance between the upper bell housing bolt and the firewall is tight. Is it necessary to drop the rear of the trans to get this bolt out. The FSM doesn't mention this. Any guidance would be appreciated

Default

use 3/8ths socket drive, plus extentions and a shallow 14mm socket with a built in swivel
