Default Causes for speedometer error

I have a 90 coupe , auto. I have recently had a new ECU installed. I am concerned that my speedometer my not be reading correctly. What are some causes for the error? Today , I stopped the one cop in town whose radar was not working for a speed check.

Check your speedometer against a GPS. You could check the odometer by measured miles on a highway also. Check the MPH at 45 MPH on the speedo, 50 MPH on the speedo, 60 MPH on the speedo and 70 MPH on the speedo. Make notes of the GPS speeds at those specific MPH. We're looking to confirm a % of difference. The ECU has nothing to do with the accuracy of your speedo/odo.

LEO's won't generally accommodate you with a radar check.
